The Just Move it! Challenge Preregistration Deadline is Friday, March 28th! The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs and ABC /25 Foundation invite runners and walkers of ALL ages and abilities to participate in 5K and 1mile Run/ Walk on April 12th that combines fitness and fun for the entire family!  Entry fees increase $10 per adult and $5 per child after Friday March 28th and only the first 800 participants who register by this date will be guaranteed a souvenir tote with health and wellness items from our sponsors.  Want to run both races?  Adult participants in the 5k Run/Walk may participate in the 1 mile race for FREE!  For safety reasons only registered participants with signed waivers and bib numbers will be permitted on either race course.  Don’t want to run or walk?  Volunteer!  We need over 75 volunteers to make race day successful. The Movie Night Committee Rich Olejniczak and Amy Hoffman for their hard work organizing this fun event for our K-2 students.  Thank you also to the many parent volunteers who helped with snacks, monitoring and clean up.  Many thanks to AMC Randhurst for donating the popcorn that our children enjoyed.

The Market Day CommitteeMonica Barba and Angie Zitella for organizing this month’s order. Thank you to Lynette Nimmo, Michelle Gledhill, Gail Esler and Andra Morgan for helping to count and box up the orders this week.

Our PTA TreasurerHelen Tsiftilis for her hard work and dedication managing the PTA finances.  Thank you for your many hours keeping the books, making deposits, writing checks, submitting tax forms to the IRS and creating financial reports for our monthly meetings.

Tonight is MOVIE NIGHT for all K-2 GRADERS.  Bring your pillow and sleeping bag and enjoy the movie Despicable Me 2 in the commons with your friends.  The doors open at 6:30 pm and the movie will begin promptly at 6:45 pm.  Admission at the door is $7.  As a reminder, children need to be walked into the building and sign-in/out is required.  Children can be picked up at 8:30 and will not be released without a parent or guardian escort.  Questions?  Refer to the Spring MOVIE NIGHT 2014 flyer or contact Rich Olejniczak (richole@ameritech.net) or Amy Hoffman (amye_hoffman@wowway.com).

The last day to order YEARBOOKS is Sunday, March 16th!  A friendly reminder: You did NOT order Yearbooks at registration and Yearbook fees were NOT a part of your PTA membership.  To date, there are 138 families who have not placed orders.  About 25 of those are families who ordered last year but have not ordered this year.  Please do not assume that you ordered books earlier in the year; there was not an option to do so.  There are no guarantees that there will be extra books to sell at the end of the year. Congratulations to the Ivy Hill Students who participated in the District 25 Teachnology Fair this week.  And thank you to the students, families, faculty and staff that attended the event.  We hope you all learned something new and interesting about technology!

The Cultural Arts Committee Soumya Subash for her efforts to bring the Kidworks Theater Company’s show, “Peace Tales around the World” to Ivy Hill.  The children enjoyed this excellent performance at school today.

Our School Board Representative District 25 School Board Member Rich Olejniczak for keeping us informed of important decisions and information from the School Board.

Our PTA 2nd Vice PresidentDina Oberman for managing our volunteer list and helping make sure we have volunteers arranged for the many fun events we plan for all Ivy Hill students throughout the school year.

We are very pleased to announce that there was a last minute surge in participation in the Vote with BOX TOPS contest!  We reached our $1,000 goal and even exceeded it by  $11.80!  Thank you so much to all of the families, neighbors and friends who participated.  As you know, reaching the goal means that ALL THREE prizes will be awarded.  Stay tuned for details on the teacher lunchtime jam session, football day and Principal sundae.  It is time to celebrate!  Questions?  Contact Darcy Moder (darcymoder@hotmail.com).

Register now for the Just Move it! Challenge. The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs and the ABC/25 Foundation invite runners and walkers of ALL ages and abilities to participate in a 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk that combines fitness and fun for the entire family!  Last year we were able to raise over $18,000 for the Scholarship and Grant Fund that will benefit the teachers and students of our School District 25. REFLECTIONS:  CORRECTION – Congratulations to Leah Oyen and Anusha Parikh.  Their Reflections Arts Program entries have made it to the STATE level.  We apologize for the error in last week’s Friday Packet and again offer our hearty congratulations!

The CULTURAL ARTS COMMITTEE is bringing Kidworks Theater Company to Ivy Hill on March 14th.  Our students will experience their show “Peace Tales around the World.”  This show will introduce the children to various cultures from around the world.  Questions?  Contact Soumya Subash (subashsoumya@gmail.com).

The Safety Patrol CommitteeMichelle Gledhill and the parent volunteers and Ivy Hill staff who have been helping with Morning Drop-Off.  We are appreciate your help keeping the line moving and getting all of our children safely into school every morning during this seemingly eternal winter.
