Register now for the Just Move it! Challenge. The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs and the ABC/25 Foundation invite runners and walkers of ALL ages and abilities to participate in a 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk that combines fitness and fun for the entire family!  Last year we were able to raise over $18,000 for the Scholarship and Grant Fund that will benefit the teachers and students of our School District 25. The ABC/25 IN-SCHOOL DRAWING is a fun way both staff and families can support the Scholarship Fund for the Arlington Heights Council of PTA’s and the ABC/25 Foundation.  The students are very excited about the different prize options. They will have an opportunity during school to submit their free ticket in the prize drawing of their choice.  We are all anxious to learn who will serve as our Principal for a day, play “deejay” during the lunch shift, sleep “under” with the front office staff, and so much more!  Don’t worry parents, there are prizes for you as well! The 6 Hour Reading Club CommitteeKatie Fricke and Chris O’Doherty for organizing and submitting the reading logs for our children.  Congratulations to all the Ivy Hill students who completed 6 hours of recreational reading and earned a one day pass to Six Flags Great America!

The Yearbook Committee – Luanne Eisenhardt, Laurie Witt, Nikki Wolverton, Liz Dombroski and Jen Talley for organizing the yearbook orders this week.  You are everywhere taking pictures of our children participating in school events.  We can’t wait to see the final product!

The Family and Community Involvement Committee thanks all the families that participated in last week’s food drive for the Wheeling Township Food Pantry.  We collected 115 non-perishable items that were delivered to the food pantry last Friday.  Thank you for your generosity!

SIX FLAGS – READ TO SUCCEED 6 hour reading logs are due Friday, February 21st to your homeroom teacher.  Be sure to total your time spent reading and have a parent sign each line on the form.  You must read 6 hours (360 minutes) prior to February 21st to be eligible for a one day Six Flags Great America pass.  Passes will be distributed at the end of May.  This program is for all students attending Ivy Hill School.  You must be an Ivy Hill registered student to be eligible for our submission.  As a committee, we are only entitled to add students registered with an Ivy Hill teacher.  Students in 6th grade should contact their school about their eligibility.   Any questions, contact Chris O’Doherty codoherty5@wowway.com or Katie Fricke kdfricke71@gmail.com.  Information and forms are available online: 2014 Six Flags Parent Letter and 2014 Reading Log.

FUN FAIR is tonight Friday, February 7th 5:30-8:00.  Wristbands provide unlimited access to as many games as you want to play for the whole night!  Each wristband costs $15 at the door if you have not purchased them already.  A photo booth, plus cotton candy, popcorn, pizza, hot dogs, chips, candy, and drinks, will be back at FUN FAIR this year, too – all for purchase with CASH only. This is a family event so all are welcome.  Please e-mail or call Angie Zitella (zitellaangie@yahoo.com)  815.260.3096 with any questions.

Ivy Hill PTA invites you to join us for the ANNUAL ROLLER SKATING PARTY at Orbit Skate Center on Thursday, February 13th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. This is a free event for Ivy Hill students and their immediate family. This is not a drop off event, children need to be signed in and out. It’s that time of year again…the nomination process to elect the 2014-2015 PTA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE starts now!  Please seriously consider which individuals you feel are qualified to serve in the following capacities:  Co-President, 1st VP (Friday Packet), 3rd VP (Ways and Means) and Treasurer.  Please use this survey online at  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5QJQ9P3  or print a paper copy of the 2014-2015 Officer Nomination Ballot to nominate your friends, neighbors, or even yourself for any of these rewarding PTA positions that directly impact our children’s Ivy Hill success.  The nomination box will be in the school office.  The Nominating Committee will meet in late February to determine the slate of officers based on your feedback!  Any questions, please call Denise Schreiner 847-259-2575.  Thank you for your participation.
