ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
Ivy Hill 5th graders are selling Entertainment Books for $10 each. They are filled with coupons and over $75 of gift cards! If interested, please complete the attached Entertainment Book Order Form and return it to the office with payment.

School Happenings:

DINING FOR DOLLARS!   Only a few days left….Head to Chili’s  in Arlington Heights for lunch or dinner before the end of January!!  Don’t forget to bring an Ivy Hill voucher with you.  As a “Pepper Partner”,  Ivy Hill PTA will receive 10% of every purchase (excluding taxes) through January 31st.  If you didn’t receive a flyer or need additional Chili’s coupons to share with family and friends, please click on the link.

All Ivy Hill families are invited to the 2012 FUN FAIR Beach Party on Friday, February 3rd, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.  There will be plenty of fun, including games, music and entertainment, pizza, hot dogs, pop, water, candy, cotton candy and popcorn.  Ticket pre-orders were due today, but you can still buy tickets at the Fun Fair – 2 ticket for $1!  The majority of games will be one ticket.  Tickets can be used for games, popcorn and cotton candy.  All other concessions will be cash only.  We need many volunteers to make this night a success.  To volunteer, please download the following link and complete the online questionnaire:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFFJNmE3a2J0VndCWE1qZEVVM0pOR2c6MQ .  We are also looking for donations of pop, water and baked goods for the Cake Walk.  Contact Noreen Obuchowski (noreen.obuchowski@yahoo.com) for ticket information and Angie Zitella (zitellaangie@yahoo.com) for volunteer information.

We are raffling off 2 VIP Parking Passes for the night of the Fun Fair.  Don’t miss out on a chance to get prime parking on such a busy night!  All proceeds will go to ABC25.

Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff continues to work on the yearbook, so please submit your pictures from Invention Convention, the First Grade Show, Band, and any other school activities.  Our photographers can’t be everywhere, so help us get as many photos as possible to make the yearbook great.  To submit photos online go to: https://images.memoryebooks.com/login. If it does not automatically log you into the site, enter username: 400113457 and password: ivyeagles.  It’s easy! The ABC/25 Variety Show will feature several teachers and staff from Ivy Hill.  Please come see them and show your support on Saturday, February 4, at Thomas Middle School.  Tickets can be purchased in our school office.

Next PTA Meeting – Wednesday, February 8th, 7:00PTA dues for next year will be discussed at this meeting.  All parents are welcome.

Bring in your Box Tops and become an Ivy Hill movie star!  In the month of February, every student who brings in ten box tops will have his/her photo taken in the office!  Kids, arrange to bring in your ten box tops on the same day as a classroom friend and have your photo taken together!  Don’t delay, this photo opportunity only lasts until February 24th!

NOMINATING COMMITTEE: It’s that time of year again…the nomination process to elect the 2012-2013 PTA Executive Committee starts now! Please seriously consider which individuals you feel are qualified to serve in the following capacities: Co-President, 3rd VP (Ways & Means), and Treasurer.  Please use this Officer Nomination Ballot to nominate your friends, neighbors, or even yourself for any of these rewarding PTA positions that directly impact our children’s Ivy Hill success and drop off the completed ballot in the nomination box in the school office.  The Nominating Committee will meet in late January to determine the slate of officers based on your feedback! Please call Cindy Stefani at 847-392-1962 or Darla Mueller at 847-253-1185 with any questions.

PTA Reflections 2011 – 2012: Diversity Means – Thanks to all the students who participated in Reflections this year.  We enjoyed all of your projects!  They will be on display again at the Cultural Arts Fair at Thomas Middle School on March 14.  Special congratulations to the following Ivy Hill students who passed the District 25 judging and were advanced to the next level.  We are very proud of you! Literature – Sanskar Suddharth – Grade 4; Visual Arts – Kirsten Smith– Grade 2 and Kenny Smith – Grade 5

NSSEO and Timber Ridge School will be hosting a bullying information session.  The presentation will be presented by Dorothy L. Espelage, Ph.D. who is a researcher and expert on bullying.  This session is free and open to school personnel, parents, and community members.  It will be held on Monday, January 23, at 6:00PM, at the Timber Ridge School at the Gillet Educational Center.

Our Education Fair CommitteeJen Baumeister and Laurie Witt for all their hard work to make the Invention Convention a success. Thank you also to our creative and inventive students who participated in this special event!  And to all those who attended and supported our students.

The Environmental Awareness Committee – Lynn Feder, Suzanne Krause and Lynette Nimmo for organizing the light recycling program and all the families who remember to recycle their broken lights.

Community and Family  Involvement Committee – Chris O’Doherty and Pam McRaith AND Cub Scout Pack 468 for organizing the donations to WINGS.  Also, thank you to all the families who donated items.  They will be put to good use.

INVENTION CONVENTION is TONIGHT – Friday, January 13th, from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Commons.  (Participants to arrive at 6:15).  All Ivy Hill families are invited to come see all the wonderful inventions of our students!!

Family & Community Involvement AND Cub Scout Pack 468 will be sponsoring a WINGS (Women In Need Growing Stronger) collection January 9-20th.  Each grade is asked to bring a specific item from a list of most needed items by the women and children assisted by the WINGS organization.  Collection boxes will be found in the Commons starting January 9th.  Kindergarten – Kleenex, 1st Grade – Baby Wipes, 2nd Grade – Toilet paper, 3rd Grade – 33 Gallon Garbage Bags, 4th Grade – Ziploc Bags (any size), 5th Grade – laundry Detergent.  Thank you in advance for your donations.

The BoxTop committee is pleased to announce that we are halfway to our goal!  If we want to make Ms. Csensich camp out this spring, we need to keep those Box Tops pouring in! Thank you to everyone who attended this month’s PTA meeting and congratulations to our raffle winners!  Special thanks to Ms. Csensich, Ms. Kathan, and Officer Aiello for attending the meeting.  Next general meeting will be on Wednesday, February 8th at 700 p.m.

Thank you to our local Kohl’s and the employees who helped at Holiday Gift Shop.  Because of their efforts and participation, Ivy Hill received the $500 Kohl’s Cares grant!
