School Happenings:
HAT & MITTEN DRIVE
will be going on during Parent Teacher Conferences. Please consider donating a new (youth size) hat, scarf or pair of mittens or gloves.  A box can be found in the Commons area.  Family & Community Involvement will donate the items to Shelter, Inc.  They will see that all of the items are given to children needing them in the Arlington Heights community.  Thank you for your donations!

Don’t forget!  LUNCHTIME READER forms and money must be turned in by Wednesday, November 30. This program is for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.  If you are interested in volunteering, or have any questions please contact Heidi Lindsay (847)818-0217 or Michelle Gledhill (847)590-9773.

IVY HILL NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!! Please help us turn $35 into $2,500!  Only 24  more ABC 25 MEMBERSHIPS needed by December 1st for Ivy Hill to reach it’s 25% goal and receive $2,500 to use for our kids.  Here is the ABC 25 Membership form.  We are too close to miss out on this fantastic benefit!!  A huge thank you to all who have joined already!!  Not sure if you’ve already joined, click here to see a list of our ABC 25 members, as of Thursday, November 16th.

MANNA GIFT CARD order forms are due Friday, December 2.  A hardcopy form was sent home last week in backpack mail.  Any questions, call Colleen Wytmar 847-398-7705 or Darla Mueller 847-253-1185.  This is a great way to get ahead of your holiday shopping!

HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP is right around the corner!  Saturday, December 3 from 9:00-11:30 families are invited to visit the school and purchase fabulous low-cost items.  This year, we are also welcoming crafters and vendors who will offer something unique for everyone.  You will find jewelry, make-up, charms, clothing, bags, purses, rhinestone spirit wear,  personalized stationary,  fabric gift bags, non-slip headbands, stamps, holiday decor, aprons, as well as many other talented crafters and their designs.  Children can find gifts for everyone in the family and leave with them gift wrapped.  Donuts and Coffee can be purchased and hot cocoa is always complimentary.  For more details, see the HGS flyer .  Be sure not to miss this very special IH tradition.  We really need more volunteers–  please email Krysta Zyck  klzyck@yahoo.com to help!!

Holiday shopping is right around the corner!  Have you heard about the Box Tops Marketplace? Simply go toboxtops4education.com/marketplace.  There you can find links to all of your favorite stores (Target, Build a Bear, Lego store and J.C. Penny to name a few).  You can earn up to 15 box tops for every $10 you spend! It is automatically donated to our school for doing the shopping that you already do!  We are so thankful for your help with this fundraising effort!

You can help our PTA at the same time!!  Midtown Athletic Club of Palatine is donating $100 to Ivy Hill PTA for every membership purchased through a referral from Ivy Hill.  This benefit is available to Ivy Hill families AND friends, so tell your friends and family to mention Ivy Hill at the time they join and our PTA will get $100!! Don’t throw away those used or broken lights!!  The Environmental Committee will be collecting used holiday string lights and extension cords again this year.  Collection will begin on Monday, December 5 and continue through Friday, January 20.  Look for the collection box in the Commons beginning December 5.  All lights and cords will be recycled through the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) Holiday Light Recycling Program.  Questions, contact Lynn Feder at lynnfeder@hotmail.com or Suzanne Krause at svkrause@hotmail.com.

Chinese Language Classes for District 25 3rd, 4th and new 5th graders are being offered starting in January.  Please see the Chinese Language flyer for more information and to register your child(ren) by December 9th.

 A Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program will be offered for January.  The Snack Program order forms are due Monday, December 12th.

Ms. Csensich for getting the kids excited about collecting box tops by surprising the kids this week with a tent on the stage during both lunch periods.

FAMILY WELLNESS FAIR is TONIGHT.  
The 2nd Annual Family Wellness Fair will take place tonight, Thursday, November 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at South Middle School.  Prizes, Give-aways and Fun!!!!  Be prepared to get physical. Train with Former Chicago Bear, Marcus Robinson, of Max Training; play tennis; basketball and soccer skills training; learn how to Zumba and more.  Learn valuable information on health, fitness, and menu planning and be on your way to a healthier family lifestyle. It’s time again for our monthly “DINING FOR DOLLARS“.  November takes us south of the border to Grande Jakes in Buffalo Grove.  Visit the restaurant on Monday, November 14th (from 10:30am until 10:00pm) and 15% of your total bill will go back to the Ivy Hill PTA.  You can download the Grande Jake’s coupon here and check your child’s backpack for a hard copy.

CHESS CLUB lunchtime recess sessions begin this Monday, November 14th.  If you signed up your child for Chess Club, please remind him or her to attend on Monday.  Teachers will have specific instructions about where the children should report for Chess Club and will direct them accordingly.  Chess Club will continue every Monday during lunch recess through February 13.  If you have any questions, please contact Lynn Feder at 847-253-3805 or lynnfeder@hotmail.com.

BOX TOPS is off to a record breaking start!  November first was the first submission date of the year.  Ivy Hill mailed in the largest fall submission in our school’s history!  We are up to $795!  As if one record breaker wasn’t enough, we
also had 83 families participate by sending in box tops and labels.  That is more family participation than we have ever had before.   We still have a long way to go to reach our goal of $2,211 by the end of the school year.  If you have never contributed box tops before, now is the time to give it a try!  Thank you for getting this year off to such a fantastic start!

The CHESS CLUB instructional video will be shown on Monday, November 7th after school from 3:35 to 4:30.  If your child signed up for Chess Club and
would like to view the instructional video, they should come to the Commons at
the end of school on Monday.  The lunchtime Chess Club sessions begin the following Monday, November 14th.

Spirit Wear Update:  Families who ordered the grey short sleeve t-shirt 2 weeks ago did not receive the item that was on the original order form. TLK sent the correct t-shirt this week; if you received another grey t-shirt it is yours to keep.
